Twelve bikes, a garage in Grunerlokka, and one rule
Sykla started in Oslo in 2019 when two friends, a bike mechanic and a logistics planner, got tired of watching good electric bikes rust in stairwells because nobody wanted to own the maintenance.
They rented twelve bikes from a garage in Grunerlokka with one rule: if it breaks, we come to you. That is still the rule, and most of what Sykla does follows from it.
Owning an electric bike is easy for about a year. Then a battery ages, a brake goes, the chain needs a proper service, and the bike quietly becomes furniture. A subscription moves that problem to us, where there is a van, a stock of parts, and somebody whose job it is.
Sykla now runs in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Copenhagen and Stockholm, with a mechanic van in each city. The bikes are matte slate with a leaf green stripe on the frame, which is how you spot one from across a junction.
How we talk to you
We say when something has gone wrong and what happens next. We would rather tell you the rule than sell you the feeling, and we would rather say we do not know than give you a date we cannot keep.
If we get something wrong, we fix it and we say so. There is not much more to it than that.

Sykla is a fictional company created for product demonstrations. Nothing on this site describes a real person, a real bicycle or real money. It exists so that Atender can show its product against a company that behaves like a real one.
